App terms

These terms cover the quokid app at app.quokid.com, where a grown-up creates an account and a child practises. The website at quokid.com has its own terms.

Who we are

quokid is operated by Chris Winfield-Blum, trading as Quokid (ABN 22 898 520 861), of 2 Fisher Place, Mawson Lakes SA 5095, Australia.

Questions about these terms go to [email protected].

The agreement

By creating an account, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not create an account.

The website is covered by the website terms. The same app terms are published at quokid.com/app-terms and in the app at app.quokid.com/terms.

Who may use the app

The account holder must be a parent or legal guardian, aged 18 or over, using quokid for a child in their care.

Children do not have their own accounts. A child uses the app only through your account, on a device you allow. quokid is built for children aged about 5 to 11. You decide whether it is suitable for your child.

The app is not a school or classroom product. A teacher can ask about a class through the website contact form. That message does not create a school licence.

What quokid is

quokid is a practice app. It gives short activities in phonics, maths, science, and spelling and grammar, keeps a record of effort, and lets you set family rewards.

It is not a school, a tutor, or an assessment, and it does not replace a teacher. A score, a level, or a streak is a guide to practice, not a report on your child's education.

Activities can be wrong, including activities written with the help of an AI provider. Use your own judgement, and treat the app as practice.

Your account and your child's profile

You give your name, email address, and a password. You set a grown-up PIN, and you can turn on extra sign-in protection.

You add each child. We ask for a first name and a date of birth so the work can sit near their age. You can also pick an avatar, a colour, subjects, topics, and an interest that themes some questions.

You are responsible for what you enter, for keeping the password and PIN private, and for how the app is used on your devices.

Family rewards are something you choose and you give. quokid only records them. We do not supply the reward.

Plans and payment

Free includes one child. Family includes up to five children, with activities written for each child. Family starts with a 7-day free trial, then costs $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year, at the price shown in the app before you pay. Prices are in Australian dollars.

You can cancel the trial before it ends and you will not be charged. After that, the plan renews until you cancel. You can cancel at any time. You keep Family until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund a part of a period, except where the Australian Consumer Law requires a refund.

If a price changes, we will tell you before it applies to the next renewal.

Payments are taken by Stripe. We do not store your full card number. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment. If a payment fails, we may pause the paid features until it succeeds. Cancelling, or a failed payment, does not by itself delete a child's information.

Questions written for your child

On Family, a third-party AI provider writes practice questions from the subject, an age, the topics, the wording of recent questions, and the interest you picked. We do not send the child's name or date of birth in that request.

We do not use your child's information to train a quokid model. Free activities come from sets we prepare for an age. Where a set was drafted with an AI provider, it was drafted without a child's name.

Read-aloud uses the voice on your device. Those words are not sent to us for that feature.

Acceptable use

Use the app for your own family. Do not resell access, share one login as a class set, copy the activities out to build another product, or try to break or overload the service.

Do not put anything in a child's profile or a reward name that is unlawful, hateful, or sexual. Do not try to make the app produce questions that are inappropriate for a child. We may remove that material and close the account.

Your content and ours

You keep what you enter, including a child's name and the names of rewards. You let us host and use that information to run quokid for you, including writing questions and sending your report.

We own the app, the activities we prepare, the quokka, and the other artwork. You may use them inside the app for your family while the account is open.

Closing an account

You can clear a child's progress in the grown-ups area without deleting the account. To delete the account, and the child profiles with it, email [email protected] from the account email address and we will delete them.

We keep payment records for as long as Australian tax law requires, which is generally five years, and longer only if a particular law says so.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe is being used in a way that is unsafe. Where we can, we will tell you first.

Our responsibility

You have rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including that the service will be provided with due care and skill. These terms do not take those rights away.

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for a learning result, for a mistake in a question, for a reward you promised at home, or for loss that was not a foreseeable result of a failure to provide the service with due care.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law says we cannot exclude.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, if a change is important, email the address on the account. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the next renewal and ask us to close the account. Going on with the app after the change means you accept the new terms, except where the law requires something more.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia, and the courts of South Australia can hear disputes about them. That does not take away rights under the Australian Consumer Law, or a right in another country that the law there says cannot be given up.
